Hello Engines! (1and1 Special edition) shows no updates of the Search engine database, even though I am a registered user!

You can solve this problem by downloading the newest build of the 1and1 Edition here.

Uninstall the old version before installing version 3.2. After successful installation, unlock your version as usual.

I cannot edit the "URL" field.

(Professional edition only)

Your unlock code has expired or is invalid. Enter a valid unlock code and the field will be available again.

Do I have to pay for registration with search engines?

Some search engines actually charge a fee. However, Hello Engines! never automatically submits your website to such search engines! To find out whether a search engine charges a fee or not, simply click the right mouse button on the respective entry in the manual submission list and select "Details of selected search service".

I get error FlashFiler: File is locked [$2805/10245]

(Standard edition only)

To solve this problem, please delete the file FFSTRAN.CFG
This file can be found in the subfolder "Daten" of your Hello Engines! installation folder.

Submit button remains disabled

The "Submit" button is disabled, because you did not enter all the required information. To enable this button, proceed as follows:

- Make sure you have filled in all the fields in the PROJECT/DATA section.
- Click the ADD button in the PROJECT/WEBSITES section (you find this button on the right of the "Current website" field).
- Fill in the fields on the DATA tab (Title, Description etc.)
- Then you click the URL List tab. Here you enter one or more valid URLs.
- After all these steps the "Submit" button is enabled.

I get the error 0012209

(Standard edition only)

The error 0012209 appears when the program has encountered a problem during generating the RTF report.
This error message may have the following reasons:

- A virus scanner or another security tool has denied Hello Engines! access to the RTF file to be generated.
- The RTF file was open and could not be generated

How do I submit mutlilingual websites?

We recommend to submit multilingual websites separately.
Well-designed, multilingual websites should place each language in a different directory, e.g.:

http://www.mysite.com/english/
http://www.mysite.com/german/

etc. Each language directory should have its own index.html, e.g.:

http://www.mysite.com/english/index.html

If this is the case, enter in Hello Engines! the URL and the directory only (without index.html). For example:

http://www.mysite.com/english/

If you have placed different languages in the same directory (not recommended), you need to enter the HTML file directly, e.g:

http://www.mysite.com/english.html

Please note that the foreign-language document should also have meta tags for each language!

How can I undo my submission to search services?

It is not easy to undo submission to seach services.
For directories it is only possible if you send an email to the webmaster.

Search engines delete a website from their list automatically if it has not been available for a certain period (error 404).

For some search services it is necessary to contact the corresponding search service to get more information.

I get the error 404

(Standard edition only)

Error 404 may have the following reasons:

1) You did not establish connection to the internet.
2) The corresponding website is (temporarily) offline.
3) You are using a proxy server. If you define a proxy server, enter your server with ""http://..."" under TOOLS/PROGRAM OPTIONS.
Please make sure, that you have entered the correct user name and password. If you do not need a user name and password, do not enter anything.
4) You do NOT use a proxy server, but you have defined one under TOOLS/PROGRAM OPTIONS.
5) You are using a firewall or other Internet security programs, which block internet acces for our software.

I get the error 121911 when starting Hello Engines!

Delete the file "FFSTRAN.CFG" in your Hello Engines! directory.
If the problem persists, re-install Hello Engines!.
